Korn - Neidermeyer's Mind (1993)

Neidermeyer's Mind es el primer demo del grupo estadounidense de nu metal Korn. El álbum fue producido por Ross Robinson y se publicó en 1993. El álbum es difícil de encontrar. Todas las canciones aparecerían más tarde en otros álbumes de Korn.

Antecedentes
Antes de que Korn tuviera un nombre, el grupo se mudó a una pequeña casa en Huntington Beach, California, al sur de Los Ángeles, donde comenzaron a hacer canciones. Más tarde, le alquilaron un estudio a Jeff Creath, la misma persona que le dejó a Jonathan Davis vivir en su cochera. El estudio se llamaba "Underground Chicken Sound". Mientras grababan en Underground Chicken Sound, un grupo de gente había estado holgazaneando afuera del estudio. El grupo comenzó a tocar un preludio para la canción "Clown" (que aparece en su álbum debut de 1994). Cuando comenzaron a tocar los riffs de la canción, reunieron una multitud, encontrando que Korn sonaba bien. El bajista, Reginald "Fieldy" Arvizu, dijo que fue porque sonaba tan "diferente".

Cuando trataban de encontrar un nombre para el grupo, alguien sugirió el nombre "Corn" después de una de sus actuaciones, haciendo referencia a un incidente con un pareja de homosexuales que eran amigos del grupo, según Brian Welch en su autobiografía. Al principio, al grupo no le gustó el nombre y su mánayer Larry dijo que ninguna discográfica les ofrecería una contrato con ese nombre. Más tarde, decidieron quedarse con el nombre Corn, sólo alterando la escritura y apariencia.

Música y estructura
El demo de "Daddy" es más corto que la versión de estudio. Mientras esta última dura 9:32, el demo dura 4:29. El demo no tiene la introducción a capela e inicia inmediatamente con el riff del bajo de Fieldy. También tiene un coro distinto. Después del puente instrumental, hay una parte extra con Jonathan Davis cantando: "Mommy! Why did Daddy touch me there?" con conduce a "I didn't touch you there". El demo de "Blind" tiene un puente más corto y mucho otros cambios. "Predictable" suena ligeramente más aguda que en la versión en el álbum debut. "Alive" se descartó y muchas de sus secciones se usaron en la canción "Need To" del primer álbum del grupo; una nueva versión de "Alive" eventualmente apareción en el sexto álbum de Korn Take a Look in the Mirror una década más tarde.
